The most beautiful of days....

I took my camera out early this morning, when the sun made a surprise early appearance in the valley. I knew it was going to be a beautiful day, but I am so glad I went out early, because the trees were all frozen. Every branch was coated with ice, and the looked as though they were all alight with millions of twinkling lights.

I tried to get a good photo, but it was very difficult with the sun shining. I hope you can get an idea of how lovely and magical it was!
The shadows were so beautiful. I am running out of superlatives and adjectives. Sigh.

The sky is so blue. SO blue. It never looks like this in England.....

Maybe you can get a rough idea of why I love this place so much.....

Snow, sun, shadows, trees, blue sky, mountains, family.....

Familiar places. Familar scenery. Beauty.

And paths I can manage to walk on. The caterpillar thingy had just been down the path, making the snow and ice slightly rough, so it was easy to walk.....

The sun is still shining. The sky is still blue. There will be more photos later, I have a strong feeling!

How things change in the mountains.....

Today started with snow. Fog. Cloud. White. Grey. By early afternoon, it had slowed down, the snow. So I decided to go for a walk.
Marge's house is just down that road, and I turned and saw the cloud or fog starting to drift in.

Those trees, by the way, tend to wait till I am under them, and then they drop loads of snow onto me. It has happened frequently, and I never remember to put up my hood in time to avert melting snow dripping down my neck!

Here comes the fog. Or cloud.

Blue skies, and a glimpse of a mountain, for a brief moment..... I stopped for coffee and a chat at Marge's work, and half an hour later, set off home.....

The world is just white. Fog blends with snow and blurs edges. You keep blinking your eyes to try to clear your vision, so you can see where one ends and one starts.....

There is no longer any distant scenery. just what is there in front of you....

Those same trees which drop snow on me, but looking totally different.

This photo of one of the branches on one of those trees would not be possible without the fog. Normally, the village or mountains would be behind it, and you would miss the lines. So even the fog has its advantages!

It is very cold out in it though.

I have coffee. I am warm.

A place for my photos.....

Hahahahahahahah! I am getting better at downloading templates. I just seem to be acquiring multiple blogs at the same time. Oh well. This is the place I am going to post more of the many many photos I love taking. Especially when I am in Switzerland. They threaten to overwhelm the poor (main) blog at times, so a separate place for them seemed in order. And I liked the template!
There is a walk through the forest to the grotto on the mountain, that is a very special place for me. I go every time I come here to Engelberg, and often many times. It was the first mountain walk I did after that doctor told me I would never walk in the mountains again. It took ages, and 2 sticks and a sister as well, but I walked in the mountains.
If I had to crawl, I would get up there.
And you can see why. It is a place I feel so close to God. So intensely emotional. It is MY special place, I think. I am so lucky to have found it.
